On June 6, 2018, The New York State Workers’ Compensation Board released a proposed increase in medical reimbursement to providers who treat workers’ compensation patients. The new, proposed medical fee schedule includes an overall fee increase for all provider types, as well as additional increases for certain specialty provider groups to potentially raise the number of authorized providers for injured workers.
Most employers are required to carry workers’ compensation insurance to cover employees who are injured on the job. In most cases, the injured party has the right to compensation and to all reasonably necessary treatment to cure or relieve the effects of the injury. Included under medical treatment compensation are all medical bills, prescriptions, and even round-trip mileage to the hospital.
