BROOKLYN: SECOND HIGHEST MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENTS IN FIVE BURROUGHS

According to the New York State Department of Health, there are on average 292 deaths each year due to motor vehicle traffic-related injuries among vehicle occupants, killing 1.6 of every 100,000 New Yorkers, 6, 207 hospitalizations, and 106,612 emergency department visits.

Statistically speaking, and as of May 2018, Brooklyn has the second highest reported motor vehicle accident cases of the five New York City Burroughs.

Just last year, three car accidents occurred in Marine Park, Brooklyn on the same day and only a few hours apart. A driver in a 2014 Audi travelling on Avenue R plowed into a 70-year-old driver of a 2016 Hyundai on E. 36th Street, causing it to flip over. About four hours after the first incident, a 48-year-old driver in a 2008 Chrysler on Gerritsen Avenue collided with a 53-year-old driving a 2007 Toyota. And about two hours after that, a 63-year-old driver in a 2016 Nissan was heading along Fillmore Avenue when he plowed into a parked 2009 Ford near Ryder Street.
